About us

Built by students, for students

JnU Teachers is an independent, student-run platform created to help students at Jagannath University make informed decisions about the courses and sections they choose, using honest feedback from the people who've actually sat in the classroom.

Why we built this

Choosing a course often means choosing a teacher, and that choice shapes a semester. For years, that information has lived informally — in batch group chats, hallway conversations, and secondhand advice passed from senior to junior. We wanted to put that knowledge in one place: organized, anonymous, and accessible to everyone, not just students with the right connections.

What we're trying to achieve

Our goal is a more transparent, student-friendly, and ultimately better learning environment within our departments. We believe that constructive feedback, shared openly and anonymously, helps students prepare for what to expect in a course and gives departments a genuine pulse on the student experience.

Every teacher profile aggregates ratings across four areas — academic knowledge, classroom behaviour, punctuality, and grading fairness — so feedback stays structured and specific, rather than vague or personal.

What this platform is not

This is not a space for venting, mockery, or personal attacks. We do not intend to humiliate, defame, or cause harm to any teacher, and we actively moderate content that crosses that line. Reviews are meant to reflect a student's genuine academic experience in a course, written the way you'd want feedback written about you.

Comments that are abusive, off-topic, or unrelated to academic performance can be reported by any student and reviewed by our admin team, who may hide the comment. The underlying star rating is never deleted on the basis of a report alone — only the comment text is affected, and only after review.

Who runs this

JnU Teachers is operated independently by students and is not an official platform of Jagannath University or any university authority. Accounts are verified using a student ID to keep reviews credible and limited to genuine students, but the platform itself, its moderation decisions, and its data are managed entirely by the student team behind it.
