About JnU Teachers
What this is
JnU Teachers is an independent, student-run platform where students at Jagannath University can give structured, anonymous feedback on their teachers. It is not operated or endorsed by the university administration. It was built by a student, for students.
Why it exists and what it isn't
Jagannath University does not have an open credit system. Students cannot choose their courses, sections, or teachers — everyone is assigned. That means this platform was never built to help you "pick" a teacher, because that choice doesn't exist here.
What it does instead is give students a real channel to reflect on their experience in a structured way, give teachers honest and specific feedback they can act on, and give students who haven't taken a class with a particular teacher yet a general sense of what to expect, even though they can't act on that by switching sections.
How ratings work
Every rating is a fixed 12-question form, three questions each across four categories: Teaching skill, Behaviour, Punctuality, and Grading fairness. For each question, a student answers Agree, Neutral, or Disagree based on their own experience.
There is no free-text comment field. A teacher's profile shows an overall star rating, a star rating per category, and the percentage of students who agreed with each individual question (for example, "92% of students agree this teacher explains concepts clearly.") No individual student's answers are ever listed or attributed.
Who can rate, and how identity is protected
Only verified JnU students can rate teachers. Signing up requires a photo of a valid student ID card, which an admin manually checks before the account is approved, this keeps the platform limited to real students. Students can also only rate teachers within their own department.
A student's name is never shown next to a rating. Ratings are only ever displayed as an aggregate across everyone who responded.
A student can update their answers
Experiences with a teacher can change over a semester. A student can revisit a teacher's profile and update their answers at any time. The update simply replaces their previous submission for that teacher, it doesn't create a second one.
