Frequently asked questions
Common questions about how JnU Teachers works, how your data is handled, and how we moderate content. Can't find what you're looking for? Visit our About page or reach out through your batch group.
What is JnU Teachers?+
JnU Teachers is a student-run platform where students at Jagannath University can rate and review teachers anonymously across four categories: academic knowledge, classroom behaviour, punctuality, and grading fairness.
Is this an official Jagannath University platform?+
No. JnU Teachers is operated independently by students and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or run by Jagannath University or any university authority. We use a university student ID solely to verify that accounts belong to genuine students.
Who can see my name when I leave a rating or comment?+
No one outside our admins. Ratings and comments are shown as anonymous and other students and teachers only see the content of your review, never your identity. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Do you share my information with the university or anyone else?+
No. We do not share student names, emails, student IDs, phone numbers, passwords, ratings, or comments with any third party or the university authority. This platform exists specifically so students can give honest feedback without it being traced back to them by anyone, including the institution.
Why do I need to upload my student ID to sign up?+
To keep ratings credible, we verify that every account belongs to a currently enrolled student. Your ID photo is reviewed only for verification, stored privately, and never shown publicly or shared with anyone.
Why was my account put on hold or rejected?+
Accounts are placed on hold when the information or ID photo provided couldn't be verified (for example, a blurry photo or a mismatch between your name and your ID). If this happens, you'll see the reason on your profile page and can resubmit corrected information for review.
Can I rate any teacher, or only teachers in my department?+
You can browse and read reviews for every teacher on the platform, but you can only submit a rating, upvote, or downvote for teachers in your own department. This keeps ratings grounded in genuine classroom experience.
Can I edit or delete my rating after submitting it?+
Yes. You can update your rating and comment for a teacher at any time from your account. Submitting a new rating for the same teacher replaces your previous one rather than adding a duplicate.
What happens when I report a comment?+
Reported comments are reviewed by our admins. If a comment is found to be abusive, false, or otherwise inappropriate, the comment is removed from public view. The star rating attached to it still counts toward the teacher's overall score.
Who can report a comment?+
Any approved student can report a comment they believe is inappropriate, regardless of their department. Reporting is open to the whole student community to help keep the platform credible and fair.
Is this platform meant to humiliate or attack teachers?+
No, and we take this seriously. Our goal is a more transparent, student-friendly learning environment- not to embarrass or harm any teacher personally. Ratings are structured around specific academic categories to keep feedback constructive. And comments that cross into personal attacks or harassment can be reported and removed. See our Terms of Use for the standards we expect from reviews.
I found incorrect information on a teacher's profile. What should I do?+
Please get in touch with our admin team so we can review and correct it.
How do I delete my account?+
Contact our admin to request account deletion. Once processed, your personal account information will be permanently removed.
