Terms of Use

Last updated: June 2026

1. Who this applies to

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of JnU Teachers ("the platform", "we", "us"), an independent, student-run website for rating and reviewing teachers at Jagannath University. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these terms.

JnU Teachers is not an official service of Jagannath University or any university authority. It is built and maintained independently by students.

2. Eligibility and account verification

The platform is intended for currently enrolled students of Jagannath University. To sign up, you must provide your name, university email, a valid student ID number, your department, and a photo of your student ID card for verification purposes.

Accounts are reviewed and approved by an admin before you can submit ratings. We reserve the right to place an account on hold, reject a signup, or suspend an existing account if the information provided is inaccurate, fraudulent, or cannot be verified.

You may not create more than one account, share your account with another person, or attempt to sign up using another student's identity or student ID number.

3. Acceptable use

Ratings and comments must reflect your own genuine experience as a student in a teacher's class. When using the platform, you agree not to:

  • Post content that is abusive, defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, or intended to humiliate or demean a teacher rather than describe an academic experience;
  • Submit ratings for a teacher you have not actually been taught by;
  • Post false, misleading, or fabricated information about a teacher;
  • Include another person's private information (such as a teacher's personal phone number, home address, or family details) in a comment;
  • Attempt to manipulate ratings through fake accounts, repeated submissions, or coordinated voting;
  • Use the platform to advertise, spam, or distribute unrelated content; or
  • Attempt to access another student's account or circumvent the department or account-verification restrictions on rating, voting, or reporting.

We rely on our student community to flag content that violates these terms using the report feature available on every comment.

4. Our intention regarding teachers

This platform exists to support a more transparent and student-friendly learning environment — not to embarrass, harass, or harm any individual teacher. Ratings are structured around specific, academic categories (knowledge, classroom behaviour, punctuality, and grading fairness) to keep feedback constructive and relevant.

Comments that are reported by students are reviewed by our admin team. If a comment is found to violate these terms, we may hide it from public view. A hidden comment's star rating still counts toward the teacher's aggregate score, since the rating itself reflects a genuine academic interaction — only inappropriate written content is removed from display.

5. Content ownership and moderation

You retain ownership of the ratings and comments you submit, but by posting them you grant the platform a non-exclusive licence to display that content (without attaching your identity to it publicly — see our Privacy Policy).

We reserve the right, at our discretion, to hide a comment, remove a rating, or suspend an account that violates these terms, with or without prior notice, particularly in response to a report or a clear violation we identify ourselves.

6. Accuracy and disclaimer

Ratings and comments on this platform represent individual student opinions and experiences. They are not verified facts, are not endorsed by Jagannath University, and do not represent an official evaluation of any teacher's performance.

We make reasonable efforts to keep the platform accurate and available, but we provide it "as is", without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for decisions made based on information found here.

7. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time to reflect changes to the platform or our policies. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
